People I read

There's a multitude of blogs and newsletter channels out there. I often try subscribing to one of them to see if it sticks - whether I feel like unsubscribing after a few mails or not. Few survive the muster - but the ones listed below are worth your while. They are written by people with a real passion for their subject, and the wisdom to make what they write worth reading.

Trevor Miles

I met Trevor at i2 Technologies, but you may have met him in his roles at Kinaxis, Bluecrux or other. He's always been a great person to work with and a fine human being on top. What I admire most about him is his ability to share insights in a clear manner, driving home a point without judgment. He's a hard man to disagree with, and reading his posts will often leave you with something to absorb and deal with, but impossible to discard and 'just an opinion'.

Trevor's LinkedIn page is aptly called 'Miles ahead'. His latest work on AI and supply chain planning (and it stretches way beyond this simple summary) is very inspiring, so I would urge you to dive in and discover what he is working on these days.

Joanna Parsons

Joanna's a powerhouse of internal communications wisdom. Down to earth, no-nonsense and hands-on, she is a fantastic resource to help your organisation improve the effectivity of its internal communications - and to understand how important it is. On top of that, she's a really nice person!

You can subscribe to her newsletter on the website, The Curious Route, where she also offers a treasure trove of templates and tools for your internal comms team. Even if you are not strictly in internal communications, you will find her advice and support relevant: how to communicate with your executives, how to prioritize and resist burnout, how to deal with 'urgent communications' initiatives ...

Ryan Holiday

I discovered Ryan's website, Daily Stoic (Ancient wisdom for everyday life), during my cancer treatment. He's a reference resource on stoicism and offers a newsletter, books and much more. Personally, I like the daily newsletter (although I admit not reading it every single day) because if often contains a challenging statement on how stoic principles can help you deal with difficult moments in life.

If you are interested in stoicism (which you should be) and not turned off by the side references to the dailystoic store, consider giving this newsletter a try.

Karin Bursa

Karin doesn't technically have a newsletter, but if you are active in supply chain planning, I strongly recommend following her on LinkedIn. You'll also find her as a host and speaker on webinars and podcasts (check out Supply Chain Now).

As a supply chain practitioner and marketing executive in supply chain, Karin easily separated facts from fads and brings stories deeply rooted in real supply chain expertise. Twice awarded the title of Supply Chain Pro to Know, she's also a strong voice for the important role of women in supply chain, inspiring many of them to stop thinking the top seats are only for men!
